This milestone marks a strategic expansion aligned with our mission to bring BlindSite Scene closer to key stakeholders seeking precision and high sensitivity in forensic imaging. It is not only about growth, it is about deepening our understanding of current market challenges and evolving our technology to provide even more effective solutions.
Why the U.S.?
The U.S. has been integral to our successful product development. Our CEO, Dr Alexander Smyth, conducted four years of experimental research in collaboration with agents from the FBI, ATF, and U.S. Law enforcement, validating BlindSite’s capabilities. This work proved BlindSite to be the most advanced technology capable of recovering fingermarks from post- blast IEDs, providing a huge advancement in this critical area of public safety.
These strong foundations and ongoing partnerships make the U.S. a natural next step in our journey, as it continues to lead global standards in forensic technology adoption.
“It is a momentous occasion for us at Smytec. We started out as a small startup in Market Harborough in 2021 with just 2 employees and within 5 years we are expanding into the US. It has certainly been a tough journey to get to this point – millions spent in product development, various prototypes built and scrapped, before finally releasing our unique and groundbreaking BlindSite Scene technology. We have already made strong sales across 5 continents, since launching our product less than a year ago, and now we are primed to capture the US market. We hope this is the first in several prospective international offices,
including plans to expand into the EU and potentially South America” said Alexander Smyth, CEO of Smytec.
Why BlindSite?
BlindSite Scene is a game changer in forensic imaging. Using hyperspectral and multispectral technology, it can capture evidence from up to 10 meters away, non-destructively, without any contact, and without any prior treatments, such as fingerprint powders or chemicals. Beyond productivity benefits, its integrated AFIS, provided by US biometric company, ROC, enables instant fingerprint analysis at the scene, reducing identification time from potentially weeks or months, to a matter of seconds, and delivering critical breakthroughs when time matters most.
What’s next?
Smytec is entering a rapid growth phase in the U.S., working with a select number of local partners and focusing on law enforcement and military stakeholders, many of whom are based in Florida. Pasco County offers the ideal location for our first office, providing proximity and access to conduct our North American business from, ensuring an easy and quick access to these key stakeholders and customers.

About PASCO EDC
Pasco EDC is committed to developing Florida’s most competitive climate for business growth by supporting companies that seek to start, relocate, or expand in the North Tampa Bay area. Pasco EDC has designed a comprehensive suite of programs to help businesses achieve this goal. One of these programs is SMARTLandings, the very one Smytec used to establish its presence in the U.S.
This program helps international ventures quickly set up operations in one of the fastest- growing markets in the country, while also building knowledge and business relationships within the Tampa Bay region.
Smytec had the opportunity to meet with Pasco EDC at the SOF Week Conference in Tampa, Florida, in May, where we discussed the resources available to support our expansion into Pasco County.
“Pasco EDC is proud to offer the SMARTLandings program, which gives companies like Smytec the ability to establish operations in a physical location in the United States before building out their own facility. With United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) and United States
Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) nearby, Pasco County is the perfect location for them to build and grow their presence,” shared Bill Cronin, CEO of Pasco EDC. “The innovative technology that Smytec has developed will only continue to advance, and we are happy to support them on their growth journey.”
