Smytec was proud to exhibit at the LAAD Defence & Security 2025 exhibition, held in Rio de Janeiro from 1–4 April 2025. As one of Latin America’s premier events for the defence and security sector, LAAD provided an important platform for showcasing BlindSite, our advanced forensic imaging solution, to a diverse and influential international audience.

Throughout the four-day exhibition, we engaged with senior security officials, technical specialists and procurement teams from across South America and beyond. Our team presented live demonstrations of BlindSite’s non-contact evidence retrieval capabilities, highlighting its precision, portability and ease of use across a wide range of surface types. Visitors to our stand were particularly interested in how BlindSite supports frontline personnel in preserving evidence integrity, even in challenging operational environments.

This event marked the first time Smytec has exhibited in South America, and it represented an opportunity not only to raise awareness of our technology but to better understand the specific needs of forensic and law enforcement professionals operating in the region. Conversations around crime scene efficiency, digital documentation and interoperability with existing forensic workflows were particularly insightful.

LAAD also allowed Smytec to strengthen ties with existing contacts and explore new relationships with organisations seeking innovative forensic solutions. We were encouraged by the level of technical understanding and enthusiasm demonstrated by delegates, many of whom recognised the potential impact of BlindSite in both civilian and defence-led investigations.

Our participation in LAAD underpins Smytec’s ongoing commitment to responsible international engagement and knowledge exchange. With BlindSite having been developed in our Founder and CEO’s PhD, we bring a strong academic foundation and a research-driven approach to all our collaborations. Events like LAAD play a vital role in ensuring our solutions continue to align with global requirements and real-world applications.
